Bangchak touts EV ecosystem

Mostly state-owned energy firm Bangchak Corporation is stepping up efforts to diversify into the electric vehicle market by developing an EV ecosystem for several thousand motorcycle taxis. Bangchak launched the Winnonie project to pilot a plan to build battery service facilities, with help from a new mobile app.  

Thailand ‘to be regional EV hub’ in five years

The government has announced a policy to make Thailand a regional hub of electric vehicles in five years. Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak made the announcement at Government House on Wednesday in his capacity as the chairman of the National Electric Vehicle Policy Committee.

According to the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand, the number of companies that are part of Thailand’s electric vehicle industry has risen significantly since 2015, from 76 to 420 in 2019. This increase represents an increase of more than 81 percent growth in the number of companies operating in Thailand’s electric vehicle ecosystem.

Energy Ministry to cut price of CNG by 3 baht

The Energy Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will reduce the retail price of compressed natural gas (CNG) for public transport by three baht per kilogramme for three months, effective April 1. The measure, passed by the Energy Policy Administration Committee, applies to all public transport, including buses, minibuses, taxis, tuk-tuks, songthaews and interprovincial buses.
